V. I. Kuksa, R. S. Pasechnik, D. E. Vlasenko

TL;DR
This paper investigates the effects of mass shell smearing in top quark pair production near threshold, proposing a simplified model that aligns well with existing results and facilitates faster calculations.
Contribution
It introduces a smeared-mass unstable particles model for top pair production, simplifying higher order correction calculations near the threshold region.
Findings
Results agree with previous literature on total and differential cross sections.
The approach simplifies calculations compared to standard perturbative methods.
The model is effective for preliminary analysis of processes involving top quarks.
Abstract
The top quark pair production and decay are considered in the framework of the smeared-mass unstable particles model. The results for total and differential cross sections in vicinity of threshold are in good agreement with the previous ones in the literature. The strategy of calculations of the higher order corrections in the framework of the model is discussed. Suggested approach significantly simplifies calculations compared to the standard perturbative one and can serve as a convenient tool for fast and precise preliminary analysis of processes involving intermediate time-like top quark exchanges in the near-threshold region.
