Enhancing the intense field control of molecular fragmentation
Fatima Anis, B. D. Esry

TL;DR
This paper presents a pump-probe method that significantly amplifies the control over molecular fragmentation asymmetry induced by intense laser pulses, supported by detailed theoretical calculations.
Contribution
The study introduces a novel pump-probe scheme that enhances the control of molecular dissociation asymmetry by an order of magnitude, validated through comprehensive simulations.
Findings
Enhanced asymmetry control by over tenfold.
The scheme is effective for H₂⁺ dissociation.
Results align with experimental conditions.
Abstract
We describe a pump-probe scheme with which the spatial asymmetry of dissociating molecular fragments --- as controlled by the carrier-envelope phase of an intense few-cycle laser pulse --- can be enhanced by an order of magnitude or more. We illustrate the scheme using extensive, full-dimensional calculations for dissociation of H and include the averaging necessary for comparison with experiment.
