Spin flip probability of electron in a uniform magnetic field
Richard T. Hammond

TL;DR
This paper calculates the probability and time scale of an electron's spin flip when subjected to a uniform magnetic field and an electromagnetic pulse, providing a theoretical framework for understanding spin dynamics.
Contribution
It introduces a method to compute spin flip probability and timing for an electron in a uniform magnetic field interacting with an electromagnetic pulse.
Findings
Derived the scattering matrix for the system
Calculated the spin flip probability
Estimated the time required for spin flip
Abstract
The probability of a spin flip of an electron is calculated. It is assumed that the electron resides in a uniform magnetic field and interacts with an incoming electromagnetic pulse. The scattering matrix is constructed and the time needed to flip the spin is calculated.
