TL;DR
This study uses neutron scattering to reveal magnetic correlations among charge stripe electrons in La2NiO4.11, showing similarities to known behaviors in related nickelates, thus advancing understanding of stripe-related magnetism.
Contribution
It provides direct experimental evidence of magnetic correlations among charge stripe electrons in La2NiO4.11, a novel observation in this material.
Findings
Magnetic excitation mode consistent with quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnetic correlations.
Observation of a gapped magnetic excitation similar to that in related compounds.
Evidence supporting magnetic correlations among charge stripe electrons.
Abstract
The magnetic excitations of charge-stripe ordered La2NiO4.11 where investigated using polarized- and unpolarized-neutron scattering to determine the magnetic excitations of the charge stripe electrons. We observed a magnetic excitation mode consistent with the gapped quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnetic correlations of the charge stripe electrons previously observed in La(2-x)Sr(x)NiO(4) x = 1/3 and x = 0.275.
