TL;DR
This paper introduces the most general covariant ghost-free gravitational actions in Minkowski space, including non-local models with better UV behavior that recover Einstein's gravity at low energies.
Contribution
It presents a comprehensive class of ghost-free gravitational theories, extending beyond f(R) models to include non-local actions with improved ultraviolet properties.
Findings
Includes a large class of non-local ghost-free actions
Models recover Einstein gravity in the infrared limit
Enhances UV behavior of gravitational theories
Abstract
We present the most general covariant ghost-free gravitational action in a Minkowski vacuum. Apart from the much studied f(R) models, this includes a large class of non-local actions with improved UV behavior, which nevertheless recover Einstein's general relativity in the IR.
