Electrodynamics with radiation reaction
Richard T Hammond

TL;DR
This paper derives a new electrodynamics self-force from a scalar field, resulting in an improved equation of motion that resolves longstanding issues and provides intuitive solutions for particles in constant fields.
Contribution
It introduces a novel scalar-field-based derivation of the self-force, addressing problems in the Lorentz-Abraham-Dirac equation and offering clearer solutions.
Findings
Equation of motion free of previous issues
Solution for particles in constant fields with intuitive interpretation
Addresses longstanding problems in radiation reaction theory
Abstract
The self force of electrodynamics is derived from a scalar field. The resulting equation of motion is free of all of the problems that plague the Lorentz Abraham Dirac equation. The age-old problem of a particle in a constant field is solved and the solution has intuitive appeal.
