TL;DR
This paper analyzes the classical small oscillations of an electric dipole subjected to a uniform magnetic field, deriving normal modes and applicability criteria, aiding educational understanding in physics and engineering.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed analysis of small oscillations of an electric dipole in a magnetic field, including normal modes and applicability criteria, which is useful for educational purposes.
Findings
Normal modes of oscillation are derived.
A criterion for the applicability of the small oscillation method is proposed.
The study enhances understanding of electric dipole dynamics in magnetic fields.
Abstract
In this letter we study the classical motion of an electric dipole in the presence of a uniform magnetic field in the approximation of small oscillations. The normal modes of oscillations are obtained and propose a criterion of applicability of the method of small oscillations. In our opinion, the resolution of such examples is useful for training students in science and engineering.
