Torsion, an alternative to the cosmological constant?
Thomas Schucker, Andre Tilquin

TL;DR
This paper evaluates Einstein-Cartan theory as an alternative to the cosmological constant and finds it incompatible with observational data, correcting previous misconceptions caused by errors in earlier field equations.
Contribution
It clarifies the correct field equations in Einstein-Cartan theory and demonstrates its incompatibility with the Hubble diagram, challenging its viability as an alternative to dark energy.
Findings
Einstein-Cartan theory does not fit the Hubble diagram.
Previous positive claims were based on errors in field equations.
The corrected theory contradicts the idea of torsion replacing the cosmological constant.
Abstract
We confront Einstein-Cartan's theory with the Hubble diagram and obtain a negative answer to the question in the title. Contrary findings in the literature seem to stem from an error in the field equations.
