TL;DR
This paper develops an optimal control framework for a dengue epidemic model incorporating vaccination strategies to minimize infection levels in human populations.
Contribution
It introduces a combined SIR+ASI model with an optimal control approach to identify effective vaccination policies against dengue.
Findings
Optimal vaccination strategies reduce infection prevalence.
Model provides insights into disease dynamics and control effectiveness.
Framework can inform public health decision-making.
Abstract
We present a SIR+ASI epidemic model to describe the interaction between human and dengue fever mosquito populations. A control strategy in the form of vaccination, to decrease the number of infected individuals, is used. An optimal control approach is applied in order to find the best way to fight the disease.
