$\sin{\theta}_{13}$ and neutrino mass matrix with an approximate flavor symmetry
Riazuddin

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that with an approximate flavor symmetry and near degenerate neutrino masses, the tribimaximal mixing pattern can be preserved even with a non-zero reactor angle, implying a specific mu-tau symmetry violation.
Contribution
It shows how an approximate flavor symmetry in the neutrino mass matrix can sustain tribimaximal mixing despite a non-zero reactor angle.
Findings
Tribimaximal atmospheric and solar angles are maintained with non-zero $ heta_{13}$.
Non-zero $ heta_{13}$ indicates an approximate $ u_{ au} ightarrow- u_{ au}$ symmetry.
The model links neutrino mass degeneracy with mixing angle stability.
Abstract
For a neutrino mass matrix whose texture has an approximate flavor symmetry and where one has near degenerate neutrino mass, it is shown that the tribimaximal values for atmospheric angle and solar angle can be maintained even when the reactor angle . The non zero implies approximate symmetry instead of symmetry.
