TL;DR
This paper presents a novel 6-dimensional gauge theory derived from 5D super-Yang-Mills, exhibiting enhanced symmetries and extended solutions, with implications for M5-branes and higher-dimensional physics.
Contribution
It introduces a new 6D gauge theory uplift of 5D super-Yang-Mills using a space-like vector, revealing Lorentzian and scale invariance and extended BPS solutions.
Findings
The 6D theory exhibits Lorentzian and scale invariance after localization.
It includes KK states, instantons, and flux quantization.
The theory admits 1/2 BPS strings and monopole solutions.
Abstract
We uplift 5-dimensional super-Yang-Mills theory to a 6-dimensional gauge theory with the help of a space-like constant vector , whose norm determines the Yang-Mills coupling constant. After the localization of the 6D gauge theory acquires Lorentzian invariance as well as scale invariance. We discuss KK states, instantons and the flux quantization. The 6D theory admits extended solutions like 1/2 BPS `strings' and monopoles.
