Resonances within Chaos
Giovanni Gallavotti, Guido Gentile, Alessandro Giuliani

TL;DR
This paper investigates how chaotic systems subjected to periodic forcing can develop strange attractors, providing analytical insights into phenomena typically observed through numerical simulations.
Contribution
It offers a complete analytical study of resonance phenomena in simple chaotic models under periodic forcing.
Findings
Chaotic systems can develop periodically visited strange attractors under forcing
Analytical methods can fully describe resonance phenomena in these models
Numerical observations are supported by rigorous analysis
Abstract
A chaotic system under periodic forcing can develop a periodically visited strange attractor. We discuss simple models in which the phenomenon, quite easy to see in numerical simulations, can be completely studied analytically.
