Investigations of Double Parton Scattering: Example of $pp \rightarrow b \bar{b} \rm{jet~jet} X$
Edmond L. Berger (Argonne)

TL;DR
This paper explores how to identify and measure double parton scattering in proton-proton collisions producing bottom quark pairs and jets at the LHC, using characteristic kinematic features.
Contribution
It introduces a methodology to distinguish double parton scattering from single scattering and proposes a way to measure its cross section.
Findings
Characteristic phase space concentrations identified for double scattering
Methodology for measuring double-parton cross section proposed
Potential to differentiate double from single scattering at LHC
Abstract
Signature kinematic variables and characteristic concentrations in phase space of double parton scattering are discussed. These properties should allow the double parton contribution to at Large Hadron Collider energies to be distinguished from the usual single parton scattering contribution. A methodology is suggested to measure the size of the double-parton cross section.
