TL;DR
This study investigates the effects of proton irradiation on LFS-3 and LFS-8 scintillating crystals, finding minimal damage in transmission spectra post-irradiation, which suggests their potential durability in high-radiation environments.
Contribution
The paper provides experimental data on proton-induced damage in LFS-3 and LFS-8 crystals, highlighting their radiation resistance.
Findings
Negligible transmission loss in LFS-3 after proton exposure
LFS-8's radiation response not detailed in abstract
Supports use of these crystals in radiation-rich settings
Abstract
Scintillating LFS-3 and LFS-8 crystals were exposed to a 155 MeV/c proton fluence . There was negligible reduction in transmission spectrum of LFS-3 crystal measured in 30 days after irradiation.
