TL;DR
This paper compares numerical and analytical methods for calculating the ringdown amplitudes of a black hole after a particle plunge from the ISCO, confirming their consistency in the extreme-mass ratio limit.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed numerical verification of analytical ringdown amplitude calculations following ISCO plunges in Schwarzschild black holes.
Findings
Numerical results agree well with analytical predictions.
The study validates analytical models for ringdown amplitudes.
Results enhance understanding of black hole perturbations in extreme-mass ratio scenarios.
Abstract
We numerically compute the ringdown amplitudes following the plunge of a particle from the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) of a Schwarzschild black hole in the extreme-mass ratio limit. We show that the ringdown amplitudes computed in this way are in good agreement with a recent analytical calculation arXiv:0911.3899.
