TL;DR
This paper extends a model for intrinsic charm to light quarks in nucleons, comparing calculations with experimental data to extract probabilities of five-quark states and analyzing their momentum distributions.
Contribution
It introduces a generalized approach for light-quark sectors, providing new estimates for five-quark component probabilities in nucleons and their momentum dependence.
Findings
Good agreement with experimental data on sea quark distributions
Extraction of probabilities for specific five-quark states in the proton
Calculated x-dependence of intrinsic charm considering QCD evolution
Abstract
We have generalized the approach of Brodsky {\it et al.} for the intrinsic charm quark distribution in the nucleons to the light-quark sector involving intrinsic and sea quarks. We compare the calculations with the existing , , and data. The good agreement between the theory and the data allows the extraction of the probabilities for the , , and five-quark Fock states in the proton. We also calculate the -dependence of the intrinsic charm after taking into consideration the QCD evolution of the intrinsic quark distribution.
