TL;DR
This paper analytically investigates the finite size and interaction effects on the energy of a trapped ultracold Fermi gas, improving the fit to experimental excess energy data using a mean field perturbative approach.
Contribution
It introduces a perturbative mean field calculation to better model the excess energy of a trapped Fermi gas, accounting for finite size and interaction corrections.
Findings
Enhanced fit to experimental excess energy data
Quantitative analysis of finite size effects
Quantitative analysis of interaction effects
Abstract
We have analytically explored finite size and interparticle interaction corrections to the average energy of a harmonically trapped Fermi gas below and above the Fermi temperature, and have obtained a better fitting for the excess energy reported by DeMarco and Jin [Science , 1703 (1999)]. We have presented a perturbative calculation within a mean field approximation.
