TL;DR
This study reports the synthesis and magnetic characterization of SrMn$_2$V$_2$O$_8$, a new antiferromagnetic S=5/2 spin chain compound with one-dimensional magnetic behavior and long-range order below 43 K.
Contribution
First synthesis and detailed magnetic analysis of SrMn$_2$V$_2$O$_8$, revealing its antiferromagnetic properties and one-dimensional magnetic behavior.
Findings
Exhibits antiferromagnetic order below 43 K
Displays one-dimensional magnetic behavior above T_N
Has a classical long-range ordered antiferromagnetic ground state
Abstract
Large single crystals of the new compound SrMnVO have been grown by the floating-zone method. This transition-metal based oxide is isostructural to SrNiVO, described by the tetragonal space group . Magnetic properties were investigated by means of susceptibility, magnetization, and specific heat measurements. The title compound behaves like a one-dimensional magnetic system above the ordering temperature ( = 43 K). The magnetic ground state can be described as a classical long-range ordered antiferromagnet with weak anisotropy.
