Robert L. Griess Jr., Ching Hung Lam

TL;DR
This paper presents a new, more direct proof of the existence of the Monster group using VOA theory, avoiding complex calculations typical of traditional methods.
Contribution
It introduces a novel existence proof of the Monster group via VOA extension uniqueness, simplifying previous approaches.
Findings
Established a new existence proof of the Monster group
Utilized VOA extension theory and representation theory
Reduced reliance on complex calculations in Monster theory
Abstract
We use uniqueness of a VOA (vertex operator algebra) extension of to a Moonshine type VOA to give a new existence proof of a finite simple group of Monster type. The proof is relatively direct. Our methods depend on VOA representation theory and are free of many special calculations which traditionally occur in theory of the Monster.
