Open charm effects in $e^+e^-\to J/\psi \eta$, $J/\psi \pi^0$ and $\phi\eta_c$
Qian Wang, Xiao-Hai Liu, and Qiang Zhao

TL;DR
This paper investigates how open charm effects influence the cross section lineshapes of specific $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes, highlighting the potential to isolate these effects and understand the X(3900) enhancement.
Contribution
It introduces a method to identify open charm effects in $e^+e^-$ processes by analyzing lineshape features near specific thresholds, especially away from known charmonia.
Findings
Open charm effects significantly alter the cross section lineshapes.
The $e^+e^- o J/\psi\pi^0$ process is particularly sensitive to $Dar{D^*}+c.c.$ effects.
A model-independent cusp effect is predicted at the $D^0ar{D}^0+c.c.$ and $D^+ D^{*-}+c.c.$ thresholds.
Abstract
We propose to study the open charm effects in , and . We show that the exclusive cross section lineshapes of these processes would be strongly affected by the open charm effects. Since the final state light meson productions are through soft gluon radiations, we assume a recognition of this soft process via charmed meson loops at hadronic level. A unique feature among these three reactions is that the open channel is located in a relatively isolated energy, i.e. GeV, which is sufficiently far away from the known charmonia and . Therefore, the cross section lineshapes of these reactions may provide an opportunity for singling out the open charm effects with relatively well-defined charmonium contributions. In particular, we find that reaction is sensitive to…
