Non-Abelian magnetic monopoles responsible for quark confinement
K.-I. Kondo, A. Shibata, T. Shinohara, S. Kato

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that gauge-invariant non-Abelian magnetic monopoles in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory play a key role in quark confinement, highlighting a significant difference from the SU(2) case.
Contribution
It introduces a gauge-invariant definition of non-Abelian magnetic monopoles in SU(3) and shows their dominant role in quark confinement.
Findings
Non-Abelian monopoles in SU(3) are crucial for confinement.
Contrast with SU(2) case emphasizes the uniqueness of SU(3).
Magnetic monopoles contribute dominantly to the confinement mechanism.
Abstract
We show that the non-Abelian magnetic monopole defined in a gauge-invariant way in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory gives a dominant contribution to confinement of the fundamental quark, in sharp contrast to the SU(2) case.
