A blowup criterion for ideal viscoelastic flow
Xianpeng Hu, Ryan Hynd

TL;DR
This paper develops a new criterion similar to Beale-Kato-Majda for predicting singularities in smooth solutions of the ideal viscoelastic flow equations, aiding understanding of flow breakdowns.
Contribution
It introduces an analog of the Beale-Kato-Majda criterion tailored for the Oldroyd model of ideal viscoelastic flow, extending singularity analysis tools.
Findings
Established a blowup criterion for ideal viscoelastic flow
Connected singularity formation to specific solution norms
Provided a theoretical framework for future singularity studies
Abstract
We establish an analog of the Beale-Kato-Majda criterion for singularities of smooth solutions of the system of PDE arising in the Oldroyd model for ideal viscoelastic flow.
