Jet Dipolarity: Top Tagging with Color Flow
Anson Hook, Martin Jankowiak, Jay G. Wacker

TL;DR
This paper introduces dipolarity, a new jet observable that leverages color flow to improve top jet tagging, enhancing discrimination between top jets and QCD jets at high transverse momentum.
Contribution
The paper presents dipolarity, a novel jet observable based on color flow, integrated into the HEPTopTagger to improve top jet identification.
Findings
Dipolarity improves top jet versus QCD jet discrimination.
Incorporating dipolarity enhances tagging performance at high pT.
The method is effective for moderate to high transverse momentum jets.
Abstract
A new jet observable, dipolarity, is introduced that can distinguish whether a pair of subjets arises from a color singlet source. This observable is incorporated into the HEPTopTagger and is shown to improve discrimination between top jets and QCD jets for moderate to high pT.
