TL;DR
This paper investigates how the universality of Yukawa coupling strength can explain the observed quark mass hierarchy, mixing, and CP violation in an extended standard model with an additional vector-like quark.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the universality hypothesis can account for the quark mass spectrum, mixing angles, and CP violation within a model including a new vector-like quark.
Findings
Reproduces observed quark mass hierarchy
Matches experimental CP violation strength
Supports universality of Yukawa couplings hypothesis
Abstract
We analyse the strength of CP violation in an extension of the standard model with an extra vector-like singlet quark, in the framework of the hypothesis of universality of strength of Yukawa couplings connecting standard quarks. We show that the correct pattern of quark masses and mixing can be obtained, including the observed strength of CP violation.
