The search for progenitor models of type Ia supernovae
J.S.W. Claeys, O.R. Pols, J. Vink, R.G. Izzard

TL;DR
This paper presents preliminary modeling efforts to identify progenitor systems of type Ia supernovae by comparing binary population models with observed element abundances in the intra-cluster medium.
Contribution
It introduces a new approach to constrain supernova progenitors through binary population modeling and comparison with observational data.
Findings
Initial models suggest certain binary configurations match observed abundances.
Comparison indicates potential progenitor scenarios consistent with intra-cluster medium data.
Further refinement needed for definitive progenitor identification.
Abstract
We show the preliminary results of our search for the progenitor systems of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia). We model binary populations our aim being to compare these models with the observations of detailed element abundances of the hot Intra-Cluster Medium.
