Lijuan Ruan (for the STAR Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper presents di-electron production measurements in 200 GeV proton-proton collisions, compares data with cocktail simulations, and discusses future measurements in gold-gold collisions.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed di-electron analysis at this energy and compares experimental data with simulated backgrounds, informing future heavy-ion collision studies.
Findings
Data agrees with cocktail simulations for light and heavy flavor decays.
Provides baseline measurements for di-electron production in p+p collisions.
Discusses potential for di-lepton measurements in Au+Au collisions.
Abstract
The di-electron analysis for 200 GeV p+p collisions is presented in this article. The cocktail simulations of di-eletrons from light flavor meson decays and heavy flavor decays are reported and compared with data. The perspectives for di-lepton measurements in Au+Au collisions are discussed.
