Non-Abelian magnetic monopole dominance for SU(3) Wilson loop average
Kei-Ichi Kondo, Akihiro Shibata, Toru Shinohara, Seikou Kato

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory, non-Abelian magnetic monopoles play a dominant role in quark confinement, contrasting with the SU(2) case, highlighting a key difference in gauge theories.
Contribution
It introduces a gauge-invariant definition of non-Abelian magnetic monopoles in SU(3) and shows their dominant contribution to quark confinement.
Findings
Non-Abelian magnetic monopoles dominate SU(3) Wilson loop averages.
Contrast with SU(2) case where monopoles are not dominant.
Supports the monopole dominance hypothesis in SU(3) confinement.
Abstract
We show that the non-Abelian magnetic monopole defined in a gauge-invariant way in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory gives a dominant contribution to confinement of the fundamental quark, in sharp contrast to the SU(2) case.
