Holography and colliding gravitational shock waves in asymptotically AdS_5 spacetime
Paul M. Chesler, Laurence G. Yaffe

TL;DR
This paper investigates the collision of planar shock waves in a strongly coupled gauge theory using holography, involving numerical solutions of gravitational initial value problems in asymptotically AdS_5 spacetime.
Contribution
It presents a numerical approach to study shock wave collisions in AdS_5, providing insights into non-equilibrium dynamics of strongly coupled gauge theories.
Findings
Numerical solutions of shock wave collisions in AdS_5.
Insights into thermalization processes in strongly coupled plasmas.
Methodology for simulating gravitational duals of shock collisions.
Abstract
Using holography, we study the collision of planar shock waves in strongly coupled N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. This requires the numerical solution of a dual gravitational initial value problem in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime.
