The Shape Parameter in the Shifted Surface Spline
Lin-Tian Luh

TL;DR
This paper investigates the shape parameter in shifted surface splines, providing criteria for its optimal selection to improve the effectiveness of radial basis function methods.
Contribution
It introduces specific criteria for choosing the optimal shape parameter in shifted surface splines, addressing a key challenge in RBF applications.
Findings
Proposes criteria for optimal shape parameter selection
Enhances the understanding of shape parameter influence
Aims to improve RBF method performance
Abstract
There is a constant c contained in the famous radial basis function shifted surface spline. It's called shape parameter. RBF people only know that this constant is very influential, while its optimal choice is unknown. This paper presents criteria of its optimal choice.
