TL;DR
This paper presents an educational experiment demonstrating how an electrical fuse operates and blows under high current conditions, aimed at enhancing physics lessons for Year 11 students.
Contribution
It introduces a simple visual experiment to effectively illustrate fuse functionality in classroom settings.
Findings
Students better understand fuse operation through visual demonstration.
The experiment effectively shows fuse blowage under high current.
Educational impact on physics teaching methods.
Abstract
In this brief article I describe an experiment to illustrate how a fuse works. I have used this as part of lessons for my year 11 classes to demonstrate how an electrical fuse 'blows' when too high a current passes through it.
