TL;DR
This paper clarifies misconceptions about Einstein's relativity, specifically addressing the misinterpretation of the mass-energy relation and emphasizing the true essence of the theory for educators.
Contribution
It provides a simplified explanation of relativity to correct common misconceptions about mass and energy, targeting teachers and educators.
Findings
Clarifies the correct interpretation of $E=mc^2$
Highlights misconceptions about mass increase with velocity
Aims to improve teaching of relativity concepts
Abstract
This note is an attempt to explain in simple words why the famous relation misrepresents the essence of Einstein's relativity theory. The note is addressed to high-school teachers, and a part of it - to those university professors who permit themselves to say that the mass of a body increases with its velocity or momentum and thus mislead the teachers and their students. ----- Contains both English and Russian versions.
