The cool end of the DZ sequence in the SDSS
Detlev Koester, Jonathan Girven, Boris Gaensicke, Patrick Dufour

TL;DR
This paper reports the discovery of cool DZ white dwarfs in SDSS data, extending the known DZ sequence towards lower temperatures and enriching the understanding of white dwarf spectral diversity.
Contribution
The study identifies and characterizes the coolest DZ white dwarfs, expanding the known temperature range of DZ spectral types in SDSS data.
Findings
Discovery of new cool DZ white dwarfs in SDSS
Extension of the DZ sequence to cooler temperatures
Implications for white dwarf spectral evolution
Abstract
We report the discovery of cool DZ white dwarfs, which lie in the SDSS (u-g) vs. (g-r) two-color diagram across and below the main sequence. These stars represent the extension of the well-known DZ sequence towards cooler temperatures.
