On the non-linearity of the master equation describing spin-selective radical-ion-pair reactions
I. K. Kominis

TL;DR
This paper discusses the physical interpretation of a recently derived non-linear master equation that models spin-selective radical-ion-pair reactions, emphasizing why such non-linearity is expected based on general principles.
Contribution
It clarifies the physical meaning of the non-linear master equation used in modeling radical-ion-pair reactions and argues that non-linearity naturally arises from fundamental considerations.
Findings
Non-linear master equation is physically meaningful
Non-linearity in the equation is expected from general arguments
Provides insight into spin-selective radical-ion-pair reactions
Abstract
We elaborate on the physical meaning of the non-linear master equation that was recently derived to account for spin-selective radical-ion-pair reactions. Based on quite general arguments, we show that such a non-linear master equation is indeed to be expected.
