Predicting decoherence in discrete models
Mario Castagnino, Sebastian Fortin

TL;DR
This paper introduces a method to determine whether discrete quantum systems decohere and under what conditions, eliminating the need for computer simulations of their time evolution.
Contribution
It presents a novel analytical lemma that allows predicting decoherence in discrete models without numerical simulations.
Findings
Decoherence can be predicted analytically in discrete systems.
The lemma provides conditions for decoherence occurrence.
Method simplifies analysis of quantum decoherence processes.
Abstract
The general aim of this paper is to supply a method to decide whether a discrete system decoheres or not, and under what conditions decoherence occurs, with no need of appealing to computer simulations to obtain the time evolution of the reduced state. In particular, a lemma is presented as the core of the method.
