Qian Wang, Xiao-Hai Liu, and Qiang Zhao

TL;DR
This paper investigates the decay mechanisms of $ ext{eta}_c$ and $ ext{eta}_c'$ into vector meson pairs, distinguishing short-distance and long-distance processes, and predicts deviations from traditional models that future experiments can test.
Contribution
It introduces a method to differentiate SOZI and DOZI decay processes in $ ext{eta}_c$ decays and highlights the significance of intermediate charmed meson loops, especially in $ ext{eta}_c'$ decays.
Findings
Relation between decay branching ratios for $ ext{eta}_c$ and $ ext{eta}_c'$ decays established.
Intermediate charmed meson loops significantly influence $ ext{eta}_c'$ decay channels.
Predictions for future experimental tests at BESIII.
Abstract
The processes of are supposed to be suppressed by the helicity selection rule (HSR) but found to be rather important decay modes in experiment for . We try to distinguish the short-distance transitions via the singly disconnected Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (SOZI) processes and the doubly disconnected (DOZI) processes in . It shows that the SOZI processes can be related to the wavefunctions at the origin. Therefore, a relation of the decay branching ratio fraction between these two decay channels can be established. Such a relation is similar to that for and , where the so-called " puzzle" has been existed for a while. We also show that the intermediate charmed meson loop transitions provide an evading mechanism for the DOZI processes. This contribution would turn out to be more…
