TL;DR
This paper derives total reaction cross sections from elastic alpha-nucleus scattering data around the Coulomb barrier, aiding predictions of alpha-induced reactions and comparisons across different projectile types.
Contribution
It provides experimentally derived total reaction cross sections from elastic scattering data for several isotopes near the Coulomb barrier, enhancing existing nuclear reaction models.
Findings
Total reaction cross sections were extracted for multiple isotopes.
Results facilitate better predictions of alpha-induced reaction cross sections.
Comparison of scattering data across different isotopes was enabled.
Abstract
The total reaction cross section is a valuable measure for the prediction of -induced reaction cross sections within the statistical model and for the comparison of scattering of tightly bound projectiles to weakly bound and exotic projectiles. Here we provide the total reaction cross sections derived from our previously published angular distributions of -elastic scattering on Y, Mo, Sn, and Sm at energies around the Coulomb barrier.
