Roman Pasechnik, Antoni Szczurek, and Oleg Teryaev

TL;DR
This paper analyzes the production and polarization effects of $ ext{chi}_c$ mesons in proton collisions, deriving cross sections and angular distributions to aid experimental identification of different spin states.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed $k_t$-factorisation approach to calculate polarization-dependent cross sections and angular distributions for $ ext{chi}_c$ mesons in proton-proton collisions.
Findings
Differential cross sections vary with meson polarization.
Angular distributions of $J/\psi$ from $ ext{chi}_c$ decays are characterized.
Prospects for experimental spin state identification are discussed.
Abstract
We discuss exclusive elastic double diffractive axial-vector and tensor mesons production for different meson polarisations in proton-(anti)proton collisions at the Tevatron energy. The amplitude for the process is derived within the -factorisation approach using unintegrated gluon distributions (UGDFs). Differential cross sections for different polarisations are calculated. Angular distributions of meson from the radiative decays are derived. Prospects for experimental selection of different spin states of mesons are discussed.
