Comment on: Power loss and electromagnetic energy density in a dispersive metamaterial medium
Paul Kinsler

TL;DR
This paper clarifies and generalizes the analysis of power loss and electromagnetic energy density in dispersive metamaterials, extending previous work to include gain and coherent responses.
Contribution
It provides a clearer framework for analyzing electromagnetic properties of dispersive metamaterials, incorporating loss, gain, and coherent effects.
Findings
Generalized analysis of dispersive media
Inclusion of gain and coherent responses
Enhanced understanding of energy density in metamaterials
Abstract
By clarifying the approach of Luan (Phys. Rev. E, 2009), we can generalize the analysis of dispersive (meta)materials, and treat other material responses involving not only loss, but also gain and coherent response.
