TL;DR
This paper reviews how quark orbital angular momentum can be studied through GPDs and TMDs, highlighting recent model-based insights and discussing potential methods for extracting this information.
Contribution
It clarifies the connection between GPDs and TMDs in accessing quark orbital angular momentum, emphasizing recent model results and open questions.
Findings
GPDs can provide access to quark orbital angular momentum.
TMDs may also contain relevant information, but the connection is less understood.
Recent quark model results offer promising insights.
Abstract
It is known how to access information on quark orbital angular momentum from generalized parton distribution functions, in a certain specified framework. It is intuitively expected, that such information can be accessed also through transverse momentum dependent distribution functions, but not known how. Now quark models provide promising hints. Recent results are reviewed.
