K.-I. Kondo, A. Shibata, T. Shinohara, S. Kato

TL;DR
This paper develops a gauge-invariant framework for defining non-Abelian magnetic monopoles in SU(N) Yang-Mills theory and provides numerical evidence that these monopoles are crucial for quark confinement in SU(3).
Contribution
It introduces a novel gauge-invariant method to define non-Abelian monopoles and demonstrates their dominant role in quark confinement in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory.
Findings
Non-Abelian monopoles significantly contribute to quark confinement in SU(3).
Contrasts with SU(2) where Abelian monopoles dominate.
Provides numerical evidence supporting the non-Abelian dual superconductor model.
Abstract
We give a theoretical framework for defining and extracting non-Abelian magnetic monopoles in a gauge-invariant way in SU(N) Yang-Mills theory to study quark confinement. Then we give numerical evidences that the non-Abelian magnetic monopole defined in this way gives a dominant contribution to confinement of fundamental quarks in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory, which is in sharp contrast to the SU(2) case in which Abelian magnetic monopoles play the dominant role for quark confinement.
