TL;DR
This paper reviews the history and recent success in detecting solar-like oscillations in cluster stars, highlighting the first clear detection achieved by the Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium.
Contribution
It provides a summary of past efforts and reports the first definitive detection of solar-like oscillations in cluster stars using Kepler data.
Findings
First clear detection of solar-like oscillations in cluster stars.
Historical overview of detection attempts.
Validation of asteroseismic techniques in clusters.
Abstract
We present a brief overview of the history of attempts to obtain a clear detection of solar-like oscillations in cluster stars, and discuss the results on the first clear detection, which was made by the Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium (KASC) Working Group 2.
