Kinetic exchange models for social opinion formation
Mehdi Lallouache, Anirban Chakraborti, Bikas K. Chakrabarti

TL;DR
This paper introduces a minimal kinetic exchange model for social opinion dynamics, revealing a spontaneous symmetry breaking transition that captures collective opinion formation processes.
Contribution
It adapts kinetic exchange models from economics to social opinion formation, demonstrating a novel phase transition in collective societal behavior.
Findings
Identifies a spontaneous symmetry breaking transition in opinion dynamics.
Adapts economic kinetic exchange models to social contexts.
Provides a minimal model capturing collective opinion phenomena.
Abstract
We propose a minimal model for the collective dynamics of opinion formation in the society, by modifying kinetic exchange dynamics studied in the context of income, money or wealth distributions in a society. This model has an intriguing spontaneous symmetry breaking transition.
