S.M. Joshi, S. Sanyal, S. Banerjee, S. Srikumar

TL;DR
This paper explores the implementation and evaluation of grid files as the primary storage method in a relational database system, focusing on efficiency strategies and query performance assessment.
Contribution
It introduces specific strategies for efficiently implementing grid files and evaluates their effectiveness in query processing within a relational database.
Findings
Effective implementation strategies for grid files are identified.
Query evaluation methods for grid file-organized databases are analyzed.
Performance benefits of grid files in relational databases are demonstrated.
Abstract
This paper describes our experience with using Grid files as the main storage organization for a relational database management system. We primarily focus on the following two aspects. (i) Strategies for implementing grid files efficiently. (ii) Methods for efficiency evaluating queries posed to a database organized using grid files.
