TL;DR
This paper investigates the quark content of scalar mesons by analyzing low-energy decay processes and scattering lengths within a chirally invariant sigma model, aiming to clarify which mesons are predominantly quark-antiquark states.
Contribution
It introduces a model-based approach to determine the quark composition of scalar mesons, comparing different field assignments within a linear sigma model.
Findings
Identifies likely quark-antiquark configurations for scalar mesons.
Provides decay and scattering predictions consistent with experimental data.
Distinguishes between different scalar meson structures.
Abstract
We calculate low-energy meson decay processes and pion-pion scattering lengths in a globally chirally invariant two-flavour linear sigma model exploring the quark content of the scalar mesons f(0)(600) and a(0)(980), as well as f(0)(1370) and a(0)(1450). To this end, we investigate which one of these sets of fields is more likely to contain quark-antiquark states.
