Evidence procedure for efficient quantum state tomography
Jochen Rau

TL;DR
This paper introduces an evidence-based method adapted from classical image reconstruction to improve quantum state tomography by efficiently confirming or updating prior expectations with fewer measurements.
Contribution
It adapts the evidence procedure for quantum state tomography, enabling efficient verification and refinement of quantum states with limited measurements.
Findings
Requires fewer measurements for state verification
Provides high confidence in confirming prior expectations
Enables incremental updates to quantum state estimates
Abstract
I show that in tomographic experiments measurement of a small set of observables suffices to confirm or incrementally amend prior expectations with a high degree of confidence. To this end I adapt the evidence procedure, an estimation technique used in classical image reconstruction, to use in quantum state tomography.
