Agnieszka B. Malinowska, Natalia Martins, Delfim F. M. Torres

TL;DR
This paper extends the calculus of variations to unbounded time scales, establishing the Euler-Lagrange equation and a new transversality condition for infinite horizon problems.
Contribution
It introduces a novel transversality condition and proves the Euler-Lagrange equation on unbounded time scales for infinite horizon variational problems.
Findings
Euler-Lagrange equation holds on unbounded time scales
New transversality condition established for infinite horizon problems
Results applicable to calculus of variations on diverse time scales
Abstract
We consider problems of the calculus of variations on unbounded time scales. We prove the validity of the Euler-Lagrange equation on time scales for infinite horizon problems, and a new transversality condition.
