On closed cosmological models that satisfy the strong energy condition but do not recollapse
Simone Calogero, J. Mark Heinzle

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates the existence of closed Bianchi type IX cosmological models that, despite satisfying the strong energy condition, expand indefinitely without recollapsing, challenging typical expectations.
Contribution
It introduces a broad class of closed cosmological models that defy recollapse while meeting the strong energy condition, expanding understanding of possible universe evolutions.
Findings
Existence of non-recollapsing closed models
Models satisfy strong energy condition widely
Models expand indefinitely over time
Abstract
We show the existence of a rather general class of closed cosmological models of Bianchi type IX that do not exhibit recollapse but expand for all times. This is despite the fact that these models satisfy the strong energy condition by a wide margin.
