TL;DR
This paper calculates the residual mass of the pion in a finite box using dynamical fermions and compares it with chiral perturbation theory predictions in the delta regime.
Contribution
It provides a numerical computation of the pion mass gap in a finite volume with dynamical fermions and tests chiral perturbation theory in this regime.
Findings
Agreement with chiral perturbation theory predictions
Quantitative estimate of pion mass gap in finite volume
Validation of dynamical fermion simulations in the delta regime
Abstract
The residual mass of the pion in a finite spatial box at vanishing quark masses, the mass gap, is computed with two flavors of dynamical clover fermions. The result is compared with predictions of chiral perturbation theory in the delta regime.
