TL;DR
This paper reports on the measurement of the Bc meson mass and lifetime at LHCb using the decay channel Bc± to J/ψ π±, with high precision expected from 1 fb⁻¹ of data.
Contribution
The study provides the first detailed expected precision measurements of Bc meson mass and lifetime at LHCb using the decay Bc± to J/ψ π±.
Findings
Expected statistical error below 2 MeV/c² for mass
Expected statistical error below 30 fs for lifetime
Approximately 310 signal events expected in 1 fb⁻¹ of data
Abstract
The mass and lifetime measurements using the decay at the LHCb experiment were studied. About 310 signal events are expected for a data set which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb, with a ratio equal to 2. Based on these data, the mass and lifetime can be measured with expected statistical errors below 2 MeV/ and 30 fs, respectively.
