Open problems in nuclear structure near drip lines
Masayuki Matsuo, Takashi Nakatsukasa

TL;DR
This paper discusses theoretical challenges and open issues in understanding weakly bound nuclei near drip lines, emphasizing new correlations and the role of continuum effects in density functional theory.
Contribution
It highlights unresolved problems in nuclear structure near drip lines, especially concerning continuum treatment and correlation effects in density functional approaches.
Findings
Identification of key open problems in nuclear structure theory
Discussion on the importance of continuum effects in weakly bound nuclei
Highlighting the need for improved density functional methods
Abstract
Physics related to weakly bound nuclei and low-density asymmetric nuclear matter is discussed from a theoretical point of view. Especially, we focus our discussion on new correlations in nuclei near the drip lines and on open issues of the density functional theory with a proper account of the continuum.
